Research Rationale

Since I go to sixth form, the target group I mainly have access to are teenagers between the ages of 11-19 years. The type of research I will be conducting is an online survey for teenagers to complete. This is much more efficient rather than just using surveys on paper as it saves wasting 15 pages of paper and it’s not as time consuming as it is online, I also don’t have to chase after people to fill it out. I can just ask many people online to fill them out by requesting on social sites such as Facebook, twitter and yahoo. I will also be interviewing a couple of people of the audience target I want to achieve for my magazine, the questions will relate to how they find magazines attractive. I will have a set of questions ready to keep the interview flowing rather than making it up on the spot so it doesn’t seem to be all over the place. I will ask open questions so they can talk about many things rather than just having yes or no questions which is more suitable for my survey. All of this research will give me an idea of how I can produce an ideal magazine for a teenager. For my research I will need to have a camera, computer, Youtube account and atleast two magazines to record the interview, I’ll also need to use the internet to produce a survey on a website specifically for surveys, SurveyMonkey, I can sign up instantly through Google and produce the survey and use the social network to get my survey across to many people.  This site also produces a graph for my results; this saves me time from having to do it myself.
